Example #4 – Termination
Off-site counsellor helps an employee and the organization successfully negotiate a worrisome termination.
An employee who had been off work was going to be terminated for cause. Human Resources was worried that the individual might react badly when informed. The employee, who knew about the off-site counsellor, said they didn't want to meet Human Resources on any company property. Human resources arranged to use the counsellor's off-site office and have the counsellor available.
Following the termination the counsellor was able to help the employee deal with the emotional consequences and become successfully connected to an out-placement service.
